About Us
Our Brand Story
NINGSHI was born from the hands of artisans and the spirit of creativity that transcends generations. Inspired by the hands-on work of older generations—repairing clothes, fixing homes, and crafting functional objects—we took our childhood memories of repurposing old fabrics and clothes for dolls and turned them into a passion for creating unique, one-of-a-kind items. As a graduate in fashion design, I found myself drawn to the concept of remake, a movement that allows us to transform old or discarded materials into something new and personal. This journey began with me deconstructing and reassembling my own clothing, and soon, it evolved into a brand focused on remaking the everyday and offering solutions to modern needs.
In an era where fast fashion dominates the market with mass-produced, often identical products, we sought to create something different. The youth today yearn to express their personal tastes, aesthetics, and attitudes through their clothing, and remake became the perfect platform for individuality. By revisiting garments and materials and giving them new life, we create pieces that carry emotional value, artistic expression, and a connection to the past.
Our concept of remake is not just about repurposing items but about reimagining possibilities. As a fashion brand, we go beyond selling products—we offer solutions that enhance the lifestyle of our consumers, making them feel unique and connected to sustainable, eco-conscious practices. Through every remake piece, we hope to inspire a movement towards greener living while promoting the beauty of craftsmanship and individuality.
Our focus on remake products is not just driven by nostalgia but by a forward-thinking approach to sustainable fashion. By blending traditional techniques with industrial machinery, we can produce high-quality, one-of-a-kind designs at scale. Our signature "skull" design reflects the core DNA of our brand, turning old clothes into art through fabric patchwork, embroidery, and unique processing. We are confident that as more people become aware of the environmental impact of their choices, the demand for remake products will continue to grow, and so will our commitment to sustainability.
Brand Values
-
Core Value: The Warmth of Handmade Craftsmanship
- Craftsmanship: Every product is handmade by skilled artisans, with meticulous attention to detail, from design to cutting and stitching. This slow process contrasts with industrial mass production, emphasizing the values of craftsmanship.
- Art of Material Rebirth: We transform old clothes and discarded fabrics into new life, following eco-friendly practices. By using techniques such as patchwork, embroidery, and dyeing, we turn "flaws" into unique design symbols, promoting sustainable lifestyles.
- Tactile & Emotional Connection: The handcraft traces, such as stitches and fabric textures, serve as the "signature of warmth," allowing customers to feel the story behind each piece. Every product is accompanied by a brand signature or craft diary card, reinforcing authenticity and trust.
-
Core Selling Point: Uniqueness & Rarity
- Limited Edition & Customization: Each product is unique due to variations in materials, craftsmanship, or design, ensuring that every customer owns a "one-of-a-kind" item. We offer personalized services (such as name embroidery or custom patterns) to cater to deeper self-expression.
- Anti-Fast Fashion: By embracing non-standardized aesthetics, we break away from mass-produced fashion. We attract those who seek individuality and want to avoid wearing the same items as others. Limited editions or themed collections (seasonal, artist collaborations) enhance exclusivity and collectibility.
-
Emotional Value: Connecting with Memory & Emotion
- Narrative & Emotional Resonance: We imbue each product with a story (e.g., "A bag made from my grandmother's old cheongsam"), turning memories into value. Through brand stories, documentary-style videos, or artisan interviews, we share the image of "producers with warmth" and build emotional bonds.
- Self-Expression & Identity: By purchasing a remake item, consumers can express values like "anti-consumerism" and "eco-consciousness," creating a cultural identity. The products serve as social currency, allowing users to showcase their unique lifestyles on social media
- Healing & Ritual: We promote the therapeutic value of handmade goods through workshops, allowing users to experience the creation process firsthand and alleviate the anxiety of modern life. Packaging integrates QR codes, making unboxing a special, emotional experience.
-
Extended Value: Social Responsibility & Cultural Heritage
- Sustainable Fashion Advocates: We provide transparency about material sourcing and carbon footprints, emphasizing our environmental commitment. We collaborate with nonprofits, donating part of the proceeds from each sale to environmental projects.
- Modern Expression of Traditional Craft: We integrate traditional crafts, such as handwork and embroidery, into modern designs. By working with artisans in remote areas, we help preserve cultural heritage and support rural economies.
